Injury Rehab Massage FAQs
Medical massage focuses on injury rehab, pain reduction, and tissue healing. We assess movement, identify imbalances, address fascial restrictions, and provide targeted techniques to help you recover faster. This isn’t spa massage — it’s clinical, goal-oriented treatment designed for athletes and active individuals in Boulder. Our team of “Injury Rehab/Advanced Care” specialists have higher levels of training and experience so you can trust that you’ll have the best care possible.

Yes — once medically cleared, we can support healing before or after orthopedic surgery or chronic injury procedures. We focus on scar-tissue release, increased joint mobility, swelling reduction, circulation, flexibility, and functional recovery. We can start working with you as soon as 14 days post op to help reduce too much scar tissue formation.
Yes. We address muscle and joint imbalances, help restore proper movement patterns, and give mobility & strengthening suggestions to support long-term recovery — especially useful for Boulder’s endurance and trail athletes. Ultimately, we make you more efficient so you heal properly, but that efficiency helps you move and perform better thereafter.
Absolutely — we frequently collaborate with Boulder PT clinics, sports medicine providers, and orthopedic offices. Many clients come to us for continued care alongside other rehab providers.
Yes. We accept HSA/FSA for injury rehab and medical massage services. We also treat auto-accident and worker’s comp cases with proper paperwork, although there are specific ways to book those types of treatments.
Your treatment may include deeper, therapeutic work in areas of tension or dysfunction. Pressure is always based on your comfort, and we balance effectiveness with safety so your body can heal, not flare. You may feel mildly sore the next day but please contact us if your pain persists beyond 24 hrs. On rare occasions, we may offer deeper treatment styles if we believe this is in your best interest (eg. scar tissue work). But we always discuss the care plan with you in advance so you can make an informed decision.
Experience
In addition to working with many local sports teams since 1999, the staff at Boulder Therapeutics works in conjunction with doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists and other health care professionals to provide our clients with the highest level of care possible. We have treated everything from pulled muscles, whiplash and joint pain to scoliosis, carpal tunnel syndrome and severe nerve pain.
Massage therapy can help with a wide range of conditions including arthritis, a pulled muscle or lower back pain. Massage has also been shown to be helpful in soothing chronic back pain, by reducing muscle tension and spasms. Massage can be useful in easing headache pain, by targeting and releasing pressure points.AMTA
