What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture treatments are a holistic approach to healing. They are part of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been used for thousands of years to help maintain wellness, enhance athletic performance and heal from injuries. Acupuncture promotes the natural self-healing process and improves the body’s overall functions by using needles and pressure with the hands to stimulate acupuncture points.
Our practitioners bring a strong western anatomical and bio mechanical understanding to your acupuncture treatments, wellness care and maintenance sessions.
Does Acupuncture Hurt?
There are many needling styles and techniques that have an array of sensations. Yet, most acupuncturists have been trained to insert the needle through the skin in a painless way. By using guide tubes the needles can bypass the nerves in the skin. Thus the it can be surprisingly painless to those who have never experienced it before. The size of the needles contributes to this as well. Generally, thinner needles are used initially. You can always ask your acupuncturist to utilize their most painless technique they have just to be sure.
We can support you with Sports Acupuncture, Acupuncture for an Injury or Wellness Acupuncture from our offices in Boulder & Superior. We also offer Women’s Wellness Acupuncture at our Boulder location.
Sports Acupuncture
Acupuncture can be used to increase athletic performance, recover faster, reduce inflammation and decrease muscle spasms and pain. By optimizing the balance of energy, which flows throughout the body, Sports Acupuncture can help give you the athletic edge you’ve been looking for.
Acupuncture for Injury Rehabilitation
Acupuncture is effective in treating acute and chronic injuries and helps to decrease pain. Treatments can promote healing and help with injuries to the soft-tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc) and the joints. Specific acupuncture needle treatments are employed to decrease pain, release muscle tensegrity, speed healing and balance the structures of the body.
What to expect from a Sports or Injury Acupuncture Treatment
Generally, a sports or injury acupuncture session includes adjunctive therapies like massage, cupping, taping, scraping or electro acupuncture. We also offer Trigger Point Dry Needling and Trigger Point Injections and Vitamin Injections and Immune System Boosters, which can be beneficial for athletes. The client’s progress is tracked using both western and eastern methods of diagnosis. Muscle tension, range of motion and posture are considered beside tradition Chinese methodology to give a broader healing capacity. Some sports or injury acupuncture procedures are applied directly to the site of issue and others are applied in seemingly unrelated parts of the body.
Wellness Acupuncture
Because our bodies sometimes get out of balance, Acupuncture can be used to help optimize our body’s overall functions. We have seen great results with seasonal illness support, headaches, allergies, sleep disorders and digestive problems. We also recommend these wellness sessions periodically to keep you feeling great. Wellness Acupuncture appointments may include adjunctive therapies like massage, cupping, taping, scraping or electro acupuncture. When appropriate, we may also recommend Vitamin Injections and Immune System Boosters or Trigger Point Injections.
Acupuncture is used to restore and enhance a persons natural healing response. It helps to clear blockages in the meridian systems, which often have an emotional or stress related component. The body holds stress and memory in a variety of ways and acupuncture can help free up our resources so we feel more vitality and energy in our day to day lives. Physical symptoms can clear over a course of these sessions, as the body gets weekly boosts in energy and healing capacity. This work is one of the best tools for helping people who are stuck in a rut, lack motivation, or are overwhelmed with life. People often walk away initial session feeling lighter and more energized. We also recommend these wellness sessions periodically to keep you feeling great.
